Hello, I'm Amy Malecha-Kedrowski
Data Architect and Backend Engineer
Passionate and adaptable engineer who values clean design, thoughtful collaboration, and getting things done right. I care deeply about the work I do—and the people I work with. I bring curiosity, focus, and just enough humor to make tough problems enjoyable.

About Me
I'm a backend engineer and data architect who builds systems that are practical, scalable, and built to last. I specialize in clean architecture, optimized databases, and backend systems that perform under real-world pressure.
Over the years, I’ve tackled tough data problems—from relational and non-relational design to scalable microservices, efficient ETL pipelines, and cloud-native solutions. I’m focused on what’s effective, not just trendy, and I take pride in writing code that’s clean, maintainable, and resilient. I believe the best tech is invisible to the user and rock-solid under pressure.
But I’m more than just what I build. I like to stay busy outside of work, focusing on things that give purpose to my life, such as serving as marketing chair and a board member for a local food co-op we’re launching from the ground up, growing a fruit orchard, co-founding a startup with a former colleague, and coding Roblox games with my son. I care about people, inclusion, and creating a positive work culture. Whether working independently or in a team, I bring curiosity, drive, and a sense of humor to everything I do.

Professional Timeline
My journey through data engineering and backend development
Senior Data Engineer
Lead development from start to finish. Meet with end users, gather requirements and determine scope, tech and workflows, translate into Agile methodology, and build processes. Model, build, and maintain Azure SQL & Azure Cosmos databases, Logic Apps, Function app, Data Factory Pipelines, Azure Synapse for reporting and LLM training, as well as Power BI Reporting, Power Apps, Power Automate and custom NestJS middleware
Co-Founder
After dabbling in the software start-up world, co-founded a startup with a former colleague. Work on defining the tech stack, hiring developers, designing our stack, modeling our database (MongoDB. Continue to work on as a side project in my down-time. We estimate going live with our first customer Fall 2025.
Senior Data Engineer
ProEnergy's software start-up to build a scalable version of power apps low-code application. Took business requirements and translated into agile methodology, user stories for our development team. Assisted with microservice design and architecture, MongoDB schema design and API middleware. Collaborated with product owners, DevOps, and UI/UX teams.
Student
When Executives at Pro Energy started discussing creating a separate software start up, I realized the majority of my professional experience was heavily around database, datawarehousing, analytics and predictive modeling. Thus, I chose to return to school, doubled my class load to finish within a year, and obtained an Associate's degree in Software Development, to grow my personal foundational knowledge, and refresh my skillset with various programming languages.
Senior Data Architect
Created enterprise data warehouses for a large healthcare system in central MN. Led a team of architects, built dashboards, and delivered reporting across clinical and executive teams. Built extracts and reports, maintained vendor databases, and improved data workflows. Worked with data scientists to create predictive modeling, risk scores, and proactive approaches to patient care using data analytics.
Application Analyst & Report Writer
Started as an Epic application analyst working within the HIM suite, including Chart Tracking, Chart Deficiency, Release of Information, and HB Coding, as well as Identity and Inbasket. Transitioned to a report writer role focusing on Clarity reporting using a variety of tools, including Clarity Reports, Tableau, and Power BI.
